  • Horror icon Vincent Price takes on one of his finest roles as witch hunter Matthew Hopkins, a blood-thirsty lawyer who believes his sadistic methods of torture are the work of the Lord. Distinctly atmospheric and historically astute, Witchfinder General is so straight-faced and grim that it makes the usually “over-the-top” Price come off as menacing and diabolical. Although named Witchfinder General in the rest of the free world, U.S. distributor American International Pictures renamed it The Conqueror Worm after an Edgar Allan Poe poem and book ended the film with Price himself narrating the aforementioned work. This was done due to the immense success A.I.P. had with their series of Poe-inspired horror features. --Mdeapo 00:22, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
