The early 80's was when the post-apocalypse movies were most famous. Deserts, car chases, weird costumes and sexy women are the main ingredients of this subgenre. Everybody wanted to jump on the bandwagon, including Enzo G. Castellari. He's the director of Inglorious Bastards, the original and classic Macaroni Combat film from the late 70's. He made 4-5 films in the Post Apocalypse genre, and one of them is Warriors of The Wasteland.

The plot is super cliche: After a nuclear war, two groups of survivors are divided. First, it's The Templars, a group that try to kill other survivors in order to conquer the world. The next one is the group that have to fight against the Templars. Our protagonist, Scorpion, is an ex-Templar who decides to fight against the evil gang with help from Nadir, an archer and a group of fellow survivors.

Although the plot offers nothing new at all, it's surprisingly entertaining. There are lots of car chases and they are pretty good. I've heard that many cars in this film are collector's items nowadays. That's why some people who watch the film are pissed off because lots of classic 60's and 70's cars are destroyed to keep you entertained.

Another controversy in this film is the homo-erotic subtext. There are few scenes in which Scorpion and Nadir talk to each other in a very suspicious way. For example, there's a training scene in which Nadir shouts to Scorpion to fire the gun "Faster! Harder!". Anyway, the finale in this film is pretty awesome. It reminds me of A Fistful of Dollars because Scorpion uses the same trick that Clint Eastwood does and that's cool.

Overall, this is not what you'd call a great movie, but if you want to have a good time, Warriors of the Wasteland is for you.
