- This must be the climax of Italian Vietnam movie exploitation. The Last Hunter is like a mash up of all the popular Vietnam movies, from The Deer Hunter to Apocalypse Now, Platoon to Rambo. Margheriti directs an acceptable jungle action flick with some actually very good acting and an interesting plot. What ruins the movie for me is the music, which is either idiotic 80s synthesizer stuff or - at the end - a very cheap rip off of Apocalypse Now's helicopter attack theme, Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries. Bottom line: a very interesting little Macaroni Combat gem, that's more than a guilty pleasure, it's actually not that bad. --Seb
