- A controversial element was the use of a real monkey and snake put in close promixity to one another to capture a several-minute long fight in which the monkey is seen to bite the snake's head. This scene (including the flashbacks of it) was sometimes shortened or censored entirely from the various video versions of the movie.
- The full uncut version was shown at the 4th Quentin Tarantino Film Festival.
