- This was one of the first slasher films I ever saw back when I first got a VCR in the early 80s. The scene that really freaked me out the most was the old grandfather telling his grandson about how Santa Claus was going to get him. Silent Night Deadly Night was another continuation of the Holiday themed slasher films that began with Bob Clark's Black Christmas (1974) and John Carpenter's Halloween (1978). --Popeye Pete
