The exciting world of espionage has been a big part of cinema storytelling since the early days. In the 1960s it became even more popular thanks to the James Bond series. Following in its footsteps were movies which featured other swinging super spies such as Derek Flint and Matt Helm. Meanwhile, in Europe, a whole line of "Bondsploitation" ripoffs began appearing which really took the concept of the secret agent hero to even more offbeat, outrageous places. Many of these adventure movies mixed in a humorous satirical spin on the genre while still delivering the action and thrills. Since GCDb is made for geeks like us that love to discover overlooked movies and oddities, we wanted to create a special guide specifically for celebrating all the weird and wonderful 60s and 70s cult Spy Movies that were made. So mix yourself up a martini, put on some cool lounge muzak and explore!
