- Director Max Kleven considered Tom Selleck for the lead role of Kyle Hanson, but decided against him as he was too big for the role.
- Writer Max Kleven intended the part of young Bobby Bellows to be played by his son. However, his son said that he didn't want to do it, so instead Kleven cast a neighbor's son in the role.
