- After several years working in TV roles, this is actor Nick Nolte's first theatrical feature film credit.
- Although Max Baer Jr., who produced and co-wrote Macon County Line (1974), was not involved with this follow-up, he retained profit participation.
- Bo and Harley's car is a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport coupe. In 2014, one of the cars used in this film was found in a garage in Kentucky. At least two cars were used for this picture - one for medium and long shots, and one that had holes drilled in it for camera mounts for close-ups. It was the camera-mount car that was discovered in Kentucky.
- Richard Compton, who co-wrote and directed Macon County Line (1974) was hired as the director and sole screenwriter.
