- This was Monty Python's second film (after 1971's And Now For Something Completely Different), which was a compilation of sketches from their TV series Monty Python's Flying Circus.
- It is one of the most quoted, quotable and memetic films of all time. There are LARP groups which discourage anyone from quoting it, since once person starts other people try to fill in the rest of the movie.
- The British rock bands Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Genesis contributed to the budget for the film.
- Adapted in 2004 for the Broadway musical Spamalot.
