If you were wanting to know if there happened to be a softcore movie which followed a biblical story, look no further. Though I'm not scholared enough to know about the trials and tribulations of a certain character named "Jezebel", what I do know was that she was certainly a troublemaker for her time. As the movie begins, we see Jezebel (Christine Murray) in her current domain which is deep in hell. Lord of the depths below, Lucifer (Christopher Stone), who opens and ends nearly every sentence with a laugh, freely displays all the enjoyments that he commands in hell. Especially at a room specifically designed for newly arrived male souls who get so drained from sex that they will eventually disintegrate out of pure pleasure. But current resident, Jezebel, is extremely bored with her new surroundings and asks Lucifer for a shot at returning back to the above world. Lucifer agrees. Just as long as he recieves a virginal soul in exchange. Jezebel agrees and has her sights upon Rachel (Dixie Donovan), who's about to be wed to flabby officer, Jeremiah (Jay Edwards) against Rachel's will. Jezebel goes through with the proposition, but manages to control both Rachel's soul and her own once she's inside Rachel's body. Though there is a few more plot points concerning Rachel's sister and the lover of Rachel's sister, it can't be argued that the viewers will have the most invested in the main characters who were mentioned from the top. And though this movie is plagued with the usual situations involving old school softcore such as overlong sex scenes and tounge-in-cheek humor which often falls flat, what this movie ''does'' have going for it is it's high-tech look. The production value which concerns colorful,sharp lighting along with good use of wind and smoke machines manages to plant the viewer into the early stages of hi-tech porn (Though this would later be eclipsed by the upcoming ''''Flesh Gordon''') but if you wanted to see how ellaborate softcore could get, '''Joys of Jezebel''' certainly tries hard and sure as hell (Pun intended) comes close to being the best it has to offer. | |||
