By the way, there's one scene that is totally awesome and hilariously bad at the same time. It's a scene in which Matt decides to kill his partner (played by Harold Sakata, who you may know as classic villain named Oddjob in Goldfinger) when Matt refuses to do a job. So, ladies and gentlemen, this is Captain Kirk vs. Oddjob! *bell rings* The fight begins with Oddjob being hanged by Captain Kirk, then Kirk hits him like a punching bag (Kirk also does boxing footwork as well). Luckily, Oddjob has a knife so he cuts the rope and, oh my god, Kirk runs away and starts the car ladies and gentlemen! He drives the car toward Oddjob, so now we have a car chase in the most unusual spot of all time: a car wash! That's stupid yet hilarious, and really kickass at the same time. Finally, Oddjob is run over by Captain Kirk TWICE. But will he survive through to the end? You'll have to find out for yourself.

Sadly, this movie is pretty hard to find. As far as I know, there are only two ways to see it. First, YouTube (which presents it in VHS quality, faded color, and, let's face it, it might be deleted sooner or later). Another way is DVD, which not only gives us VHS quality but I also heard that it has no DVD menu! (Could this be anymore of a throwback to the VHS era?). To put the nail in the ol' coffin, we have an awful front cover. Just look at it! It has a picture of a harbor (that has nothing to do with this film at all) and Shatner as Captain Kirk.

In conclusion, I enjoyed watching this film and I hope that Hollywood studios will remake it soon. Not only to show viewers about how good the plot actually is, but the DVD companies could also release it again in a remastered version....which it deserves!

William Shatner is one of my all-time favorite actors. His performances are always great whether it's in a masterpiece like Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan or a low budget B-movie like Kingdom of the Spiders. Let's take a trip back to 1974. At the time Shatner's most prominent work was on Star Trek: The Animated Series which is not as famous as the live action Original Series. Basically, he tried everything to get involved in new projects and one of them was Impulse. In this film, Shatner is a killer. You read it right, Shatner is the villain in this film.

Shatner plays a lonely playboy/conman/killer named Matt who is haunted by his past. When he was young, he saw his mother with her new boyfriend. Then, Matt decided to kill the guy because he was taunted by him a lot. When he grows up, he just kills people that make him angry. One day, he "falls in love" with Ann, a beautiful widowed woman. Although they get along very well, Ann's daughter, Tina, hates Matt since she saw him run over a dog and saw her mother sleep with him. Later, she finds out that Matt is a killer. Will Ann tell her mother about who he really is? Will Ann survive the wrath of Matt?

Surprisingly, the whole movie is a lot better than I expected. The acting is mediocre while the plot gives each character depth. William Shatner also gives us some awesome fight scenes as always. There's a scene in which Matt fights against Ann's neighbor to steal some money. That scene is so cool, the only thing missing is the fight music from Star Trek. Anyway, many people (including Cinema Snob, one of my favorite internet reviewers) says that Tina is really annoying, but, think about it, we always hate whoever tries to marry our good old parents, don't we? Although her acting is pretty bad, Kim Nicholas (Tina) looks pretty good and seriously, she's like that mid 70's kind of girl that everybody always thinks of. Speaking of the 70's, the thing that many people remember about this film is the fact that Matt wears a leisure suit for most of the movie. That's why you might hear someone reference this one as "the one with Shatner as a killer in a leisure suit".
