  • Attempts (and is mostly successful) to exploit the Pulfrich effect to provide a 3-D experience. To see this, use a pair of glasses with the right lens much darker than the left. These are available for other videos or can be made by removing the left lens from a pair of sunglasses. Some clever camera work and choreography that keeps the foreground moving to the right and the background moving left makes this possible.
  • Peter Duffell refused the offer to direct this project.
  • Christopher Lee (Dr. Charles Marlowe / Edward Blake) previously played Paul Allen in The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll (1960), another adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's novella "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde".
  • This movie featured two actors who have portrayed William Hartnell's portrayal as the First Doctor Who in some form. Peter Cushing previously portrayed the movie version of the First Doctor in Dr. Who and the Daleks (1965) and Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. (1966). Richard Hurndall portrayed the First Doctor in the 20th Anniversary Doctor Who (1963) season twenty, episode twenty-three, "The Five Doctors".
  • The Italian dubbed version was retitled "La vera storia del Dottor Jekyll" ("The True Story of Dr. Jekyll") and restores the character names of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde from the original novel.
  • Due to the once famous plot twist from the original novel being well known, the title and the dual role's names were changed to preserve the surprise.
  • According to Director Stephen Weeks, this movie ran out of money before filming was completed.
  • The title of the film inspired the name of the British electronic band from the 1990s: I Monster.
