The Japanese film genre known as Kaiju ("strange beast" in Japanese) is a subgenre of science fiction that features giant monsters wreaking havoc on cities like Tokyo and Osaka. The film that introduced the genre to international audiences was [[Godzilla|Gojira]] (1954) which was later redubbed/edited into English and released as Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Soon there were sequels made and other movies with giant monsters like [[Mothra]], [[Rodan]], [[Ghidrah: The Three Headed Monster|Ghidrah]] and [[Gamera]].
