- On-screen debut of rapper Ice-T. He also narrated the trailer. He later said that he thought his appearance in the film was "wack."
- This was the last Cannon Films release distributed by MGM/UA. The two companies dissolved their distribution deal over the potentially X-Rated content in Bo Derek's Bolero, leading to Cannon becoming an in-house distribution company, and this was the last financially profitable film distributed by Cannon.
- Followed by a sequel, Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo.
