Background

Produced by Daiei Motion Picture Company, and bear a resemblance to that studio's other series, Gamera: The Giant Monster and Daimajin, and to other Japanese pop culture favorites like Godzilla and Ultraman. In 2005 Takashi Miike directed the first new entry in the series, The Great Yokai War.
