  • The role of Eggar's crazed mother is actually played by a man.
  • The film was shot in 1981, but was shelved when the filmmakers couldn't find a distributor right away. It wasn't until 1983 when it was released to capitalize on the rising stardom of Daryl Hannah and Adrian Zmed.
  • Finding a title for the movie during production proved to be difficult. In fact, at one point the film's working title was 'Three Blind Mice', simply because of the scene where the cast sings that song on the bus.
  • The wilderness filming locations offered few sources for lighting. This is why much of the films night scenes are quite dark and difficult to see. In fact, the bus attack scene had to be shot day-for-night, so the bus could be visible on film.
