Overview

Ronald Kenneth Gans (1931-2010) was a professional actor and one of the most iconic voiceover artists in film history (although most people probably didn't know him by name).

As an actor Gans appeared in such films as The St. Valentine's Day Massacre (1967), Coffy (1973) and Delinquent Schoolgirls (1975). He also had parts on TV shows like It Takes a Thief and Quincy, M.E..

Throughout the 1970s Gans' deep baritone voice appeared in trailers for some of the most loved cult classics including: Caged Heat, Night of the Cobra Woman, The Student Nurses, Terminal Island, Night Call Nurses, Mondo Keyhole and Bury Me An Angel. He also recorded radio spots for horror films like John Carpenter's Halloween and Lucio Fulci's Zombi 2. Gans also had voice-over roles in such films as Night Call Nurses (1972) and Heartbeeps (1981).

Gans later moved from the world of exploitation cinema to kids programs where he did the voice of "Eeyore" in the long-running puppet series Welcome to Pooh Corner and "Sebastian the Alley Cat" on the 80s series Dumbo's Circus (both productions of The Disney Channel) He was also the voice of "Drag Strip" on the popular 80s animated series Transformers. He had previously voiced characters on the 1960s scifi-adventure series Lost in Space and was later the voice of "Magneto" in the 1989 pilot Pryde of the X-Men.
