- This film is famous for Jayne Mansfield appearing nude, the first time the decaying Hays Code had allowed that in a film. Marilyn Monroe would have beaten Jayne to this achievement two years earlier but her nude scenes were cut from The Misfits. Marilyn had filmed a skinny-dipping scene for what would have been 1962's Something's Got to Give, but her death led to the film being scrapped. While Promises! Promises! itself didn't kill off the Hays Code, it was a big step forward toward the Code being abandoned later in the decade, with the original MPAA rating system replacing it.
- This was Jayne Mansfield's first box office hit since 1957's Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter. 20th Century Fox had dropped her after the 1962 historical dud It Happened In Athens. Thanks to this film, she made it onto the list of 1963's top box office attractions.
