- The film's trailer was shot years after the movie itself. It features a scantly-clad young woman in bed talking about how weird things have been lately, while short clips of the movie play. The actress never appears in the actual film.
- Star Hal Holbrook shot all of his scenes in one day. His footage was edited into the film to make it seem like he was interacting with the other cast members, though his footage was shot separately.
- This film was shot in 1982 under the title The Scaremaker. It didn't see a release until 1984 when distributors picked it up and renamed it Girls Nite Out to play up the lurid angle for marketing.
