Jenny (Riva Spier), her boyfriend Marty (Murray Ord), and her friend Chrissy (Sheri McFadden) are together with some other buddies on a winter vacation to celebrate New Years Eve. The three decide to check out the area with their snowmobiles. To warm up they make a pitstop at a small shop. The owner (played by Les Kimber) tells them to drive back to their cabin (because a snowstorm is on the way), but as always in these kinds of films nobody listens. On the top of a hill they come to a motel called the 'Deer Lodge'. Chrissy has an accident and her snowmobile doesn't start anymore. They go in the house and decide to stay the night. Marty checks out the old guestbook and nobody has checked in for the last 5 years.

While staying there they drink wine and Chrissy tells them one of her hidden secrets (she had sex with a teacher in 10th grade for money). The wine bottle is empty but Marty to the rescue. He's off to the basement to get more and runs into an old woman (played by Georgie Collins). She tells him she's the innkeeper and lives there with her son (but he isn't ever around).

Later on Chrissy takes a bath (there's a goof in that scene - she had something on her breasts to cover them but it made it to the screen). The inkeepers son Danny (Billy Grove) sneaks in, and puts her head underwater, then brings her to the basement where he slashes her throat (ouch).

The next morning Marty tries to start the snowmobile. But to his suprise someone has damaged it and the other snowmobile is gone. Chrissy is still missing in action. Jenny talks to the old lady and tells her that she's lying. They drink tea but there's a drug in it so Jenny passes out. Later on she wakes up in a room and finds a book about "Indian Legends of Canada." (Which mentions that the Windigo which is a flesh-eating creature who can be kept by certain people, mostly females). Then she finds a lair and opens it up and sees the Windigo. What's next? See for yourself.

The film is based on an Indian legend. To be honest its not for all tastes. To me, it was too slow paced. After 55 minutes the movie became interesting. No nudity in it, that's rare for a Horror/Slasher film. Also the Windigo you only get to see 2 times. I got nothing more to say about it so let me wrap this review up. WATCH IT only when you don't have anything else to do.
