Deluxe Edition DVD Review
Picture: Presented in (2:35:1) 16 x 9 Anamorphic Widescreen. Picture looks clear, contrasts are bright. Black saturation is solid.
Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound (English) | English, Spanish, French (Mono). The iconic score by Harry Manfredini shocks and excites. One of the main aspects that creates the thrilling atmosphere in the Friday series.
Subtitles: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese.
Special Features: Theatrical Trailer.
3-D Version: Sadly, this long awaited release of Friday The 13th Part 3 didn't live up to the standards I had hoped for. Its supposed to be in 3-D, not blurry, ghost trail vision. I am surprised that Paramount released the DVD at all in the state its in. Its as if they didn't even test the 3-D out beforehand. Or didn't take the 3-D seriously and simply threw the red/blue glasses inside the boxes for a novelty collectible. The majority of the 3-D FX shots don't really show up and the anaglyphic red tones ruined the overall picture creating an annoying streaking effect.
2-D Version: The 2-D version does look brighter here than on the Crystal Lake To Manhattan box set. Yet, they didn't even include the great audio commentary with the main cast that was also in the box set. That would've made it more deluxe wouldn't it?
FINAL WORD: The big Friday fans like myself waited years for the 3-D version of this classic slasher film to arrive and now it's finally here and is a total dud? I'm VERY dissapointed!! I sincerely hope that if Paramount Home Video releases the 3-D edition again, they make sure to do it right. Hopefully it will be on Blu-Ray and feature a much better 3-D viewing option. This is supposed to be chess not checkers. This falsely advertised "deluxe" disc is not recommended.
