The Harris

From The Grindhouse Cinema Database

The Harris theater was located at 226 W. 42nd Street in NYC. It was opened in 1914 as the Candler Theater. The Candler's (of Coca-Cola) then leased the theatre to producer Sam H. Harris and entertainer George M. Cohan. In 1916, the theatre was renamed the Cohan and Harris Theatre until 1921, when Cohan left the partnership and Harris took over. It was then known as the Harris Theatre and ran movies from 1933 up until 1994 when it closed. The main building was later demolished and now Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum stands in its place.
