• In the opening credits for the US Version known as "Gigantis", Producer Paul Shreibman used strange alterations of the Japanese cast and crews names. Yet his name was spelt correctly both times it appeared.

• US Version: When Tsukioka and Kobayashi see Godzilla and Angorus on the island battling, neither of them know who the monsters are. In the Japanese version, the men know one of the creatures is Godzilla.

• Takashi Shimura makes a cameo as Dr. Yamane (a character from the first Godzilla film).

• This was actor George Takei's first work in feature films.

• Several times during the US version of the film, Godzilla's roar is mistakenly replaced with Angorus'.

• The US "Gigantis" version was released on a double bill with "Teenagers From Outer Space".

• This film was going to be remade as "The Fire Monsters" (removing the Godzilla/Angorus names). The film's plot would've been similar but instead of taking place in Japan, the two creatures would have been brought to San Francisco where they would do battle there. The rights could not be obtained from Toho and the movie was never made.
