A sort of Jailhouse Rock rip off with a kid (Jimmy Clanton) who grew up in an orphanage and then later as a teen finds he has a perfect voice for rock n roll music. He saves up some money and cuts a record and sends it in to legendary DJ/promoter Alan Freed. The single is a hit but Freed can't get hold of the mystery singer nicknamed "Johnny Melody". Some hijinx ensue but strangely enough, things turn out peachy keen in the end!! Theres some cool cameos by legendary rockers Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran and Ritchie Valens. Its a fun little movie thats lighthearted and semi-corny (hey it was the 50s), but def entertaining for any classic rock music fans. -
