Review

  • Packaging: Contained in a double snap case with special plastic 3-D holographic outer cover. A nice touch!
  • Picture: Presented in (1:85:1) Anamorphic Widescreen. The latest DVD transfer looks great. Colors are vivid and dark contrasts are deep. A very nice looking image.
  • Audio: Presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound with English, French and Spanish Mono included. The sound on the film comes through clear and features another classic score by Harry Manfredini.

Special Features:

  • Audio commentary with director/co-screenwriter Danny Steinman, Actors John Shepherd & Shavar Ross and moderator Michael Felcher: This commentary is more like a running comedy routine as the participants have a really good time cracking jokes about their work on the film. Very entertaining!
  • Lost Tales From Camp Blood Part 5: Another thrilling episode/short based on the Friday The 13th series.
  • The Crystal Lake Massacres Revisited Part 2: The 2nd part of a tongue-in-cheek fictional historical documentary on the killings in the town of Crystal Lake.
  • New Beginnings: The Making of Friday The 13th Part 5 - A New Beginning: Director Danny Steinman, Composer Harry Manfredini and actors Tiffany Helm (Violet), Shavar Ross (Reggie), Dick Wiend (Roy) discuss working on the film. Lots of interesting info on the movie and it was great to see these familiar faces again.
  • Original Theatrical Trailer

FINAL WORD: This Deluxe Edition of Friday The 13th Part 5 is definitely an improvement on older releases. Fans of this raucous 80s slasher classic won't be dissapointed. I'd recommend this DVD for the audio commentary alone. It's hysterical! Thank you Paramount Home Video!
