Review
Synapse Films is back with a whole new compilation of kickass Grindhouse era film trailers! Theres some real classics here ranging from many different genres such as Martial Arts, Horror, Science Fiction, Sexploitation and Southern Fried road films. Theres no Blaxploitation in this one, but I actually didnt mind! Along with the cool trailers, you'll also get a very entertaining and informative commentary track with film scholars Michael Gingold (Fangoria), Chris Poggiali and Edwin Samuelson (AV Maniacs). These guys have a great time discussing all the interesting details about each of the trailers all while fondly remembering their own personal connections to each film. The commentary track feature was a very good idea because most viewers and even longtime film fans like myself can always pick up tidbits that make the experience even richer. This is my favorite installment of the 42nd Street Forever series and I simply can't wait to get another fix of some of the coolest lost Grindhouse era trailers.
The DVD itself is nicely designed (as usual) and if you are a real Grindhouse fanatic, theres no way you could complain about the look of some of the trailers. Personally speaking, the more static, pops & crackles on the celluoid, the more I love it!
I highly reccomend this title!
